The Blooms and Bliss designer series paper is my absolute favorite from the new annual catalogue. The combination of Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum, Blushing Bride, Mint Macaroon and Island Indigo is just stunning.
I love shaker cards, they make fantastic birthday or congratulations cards so when I saw the idea of a double window shaker card on Pinterest I just had to give it a go.
For my first attempt I used a Sweet Sugarplum card base cut at 4" by 11" scored at 5 1/2" and a layer of the designer series paper cut at 3 7/8" by 5 3/8". I found that the papers with a closer pattern looked better than the papers with the larger designs.
I cut the window using the largest straight edge square from the layering squares framelit dies. It is much easier to cut the card base and the paper at the same time so that they line up perfectly.
One piece of window sheet is adhered to the outside of the card base with the second piece adhered to the inside of the designer series paper. My first attempt at this I used wet glue however that was a disaster so I highly recommend using a dry glue such as snail, fast fuse or tear and tape.
From here it is the same process as a normal shaker card. The foam adhesive strips are perfect for shaker cards! I placed a strip around each side of the window and then a layer of sequins within the border of the foam strips. Just make sure there are no gaps in the foam strip border otherwise your sequins will escape. As well as sequins I added some confetti using the sprinkles punch however as much as I love the punch I found the confetti too big to shake.
I also placed a foam strip along the bottom of the card to hold up the designer series paper. It's then just a case of lining the windows up and adhering the paper to the card base. Trust me, it's a lot easier said than done so patience is key here.
I decorated the front with three pansy's from the Flower Shop stamp set and punched out with the pansy punch. I also added a little pearl to the centre of each flower.
I was pretty happy with finished result but I just felt it was missing something. So for my second attempt I used the second largest square framelit and framed it with the largest scalloped square. It just added that little something I was looking for.
I also used Rich Razzleberry card stock and added a flower using the petite petals punch to the centre of the pansy's. I'm much happier with this version. Which do you prefer?
